WFCA plans for fcB2B Annual Meeting

Nashville, Tennessee—Lewis Davis, senior director of technology and research, World Floor Covering Association, announced formal plans for the fcB2B Annual Meeting, to be held here September 19-21 at the Embassy Suites Hotel adjacent to Nashville International Airport .

According to Davis, the annual meeting is the place where the industry comes together to focus on further optimizing EDI standards for the flooring industry and working towards greater adoption. It is an opportunity to review, discuss, and determine how best to address changes to the standards. “This year’s meeting will focus on ensuring that the industry is using version 3.0, the latest version of EDI standards with certification,” said Davis. “fcB2B has ensured that high-quality and consistent data is exchanged and that retailers can process the data effectively, increasing efficiency and order accuracy and ultimately increasing profits.”

Davis said it had been 20 years since the industry came together to develop the first fcB2B standard, and several updates have been made since then. Still, adoption has not been consistent across the industry, leading to implementation inconsistencies. “Version 3.0 was created a few years ago to streamline the information and include rules to ensure consistency between members offering fcB2B services,” Davis continued.

The 2022 meeting will cover many updates to the suite of services, including: the introduction of web services designed to enable retailers to more easily connect with suppliers and to make implementation easier and more efficient; fcB2B’s involvement with CARE to create a retail software solution to reflect April’s price changes of the CARE program in the catalog; and updates on fcB2B’s ongoing efforts to accelerate B2B adoption across the industry.

“Essentially, fcB2B is pushing the flooring industry to do what many other business sectors did years ago: go paperless,” Davis said. “We were founded to set a standard for e-commerce for the flooring industry. Whether you are a manufacturer, distributor, software company, retailer or affiliated group, everyone wins when we use the same technology.”
