Solar advocates ask lawmakers to immediately include low-income ITC refund in Build Back Better Act
A coalition including Solar United Neighbours, GRID, Green Latinos, Hispanic Federation and Earthjustice sent a letter to Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Rep. Richard Neal (D-MA) requesting immediate participation by low and middle income earners in the ITC repayment provisions in the final version of the Build Back Better Act.
The group acknowledges that while the investment tax credit (ITC) Section 25D residential renewable energy credit refund language was included in the most recent versions of the Build Back Better Act, the language does not allow LMI families to participate in clean energy until 2024.
“While we welcome the positive steps taken regarding the reimbursement of the Section 25D residential renewable energy tax credit, we strongly urge your committees not to put LMI households at a disadvantage for public health, the safety and the environment,” the groups wrote in the letter.
The House is expected to vote on the Build Back Better Act Nov. 5.
