New York Plumber Daniel Christmann Charged for Jan. 6
A 38-year-old man from Brooklyn, New York is the latest of hundreds of individuals arrested and charged in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol violation. The Justice Department says that Daniel Christmann walked last year for a state seat in the senate in the Empire State and identified himself on his “dannyforsenate” Instagram account as a “3%er soldier”.
Christmann, who has touted himself as a “plumber” who hires “full of nonsense politicians” appears have been active in Brooklyn and Bronx libertarian circles. He is called the Clintons, Bidens and Cuomos of the world a “sophisticated white-collar mafia”, scolded Big Tech, and called the NYPD “tyrannical” for arresting New Yorkers at “non-essential gatherings” during the pandemic.
Christmann was arrested in Brooklyn on Wednesday, according to the DOJ. He faces several charges familiar to many Capitol trespassing suspects: Knowingly entering or staying in a prohibited building or area without lawful authority; Disruptive and disruptive behavior in a prohibited building or area; Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol; Parade, demonstrate or picket in a Capitol.
According to impeachment documents, Christmann entered the Capitol with a horde of Trump supporters through a broken window.
The FBI says the defendant initially boasted in Instagram conversations about entering the Capitol on Jan. 6.
In addition, between January 7, 2021 and January 12, 2021, CHRISTMANN confirmed in multiple conversations on Instagram account ‘dannyforsenate’ that he had entered the US Capitol. In one such conversation on January 7, 2021, one person asked CHRISTMANN if he ‘stormed the capital CHRISTMANN replied, ‘Yeah, I’m not going to lie,'” the FBI claimed. “Also on January 7, 2021, CHRISTMANN was asked if he ‘went in,’ to which CHRISTMANN replied, ‘How could I not?'”
The DOJ alleges that Christmann changed course and requested the removal of online evidence after his employees ran into trouble.
Christmann will make his first appearance in New York’s Eastern District on Wednesday afternoon.
The self-described “maniac plumberpreviously said online that he went from working 15 hours a day to an elected office. But Christmann’s candidacy for the New York State Senate did not go well. Numbers suggest he is more of a 2.3%er.
State Sen. Julia Salazar (D) noted that Christmann was her opponent in 2020.
