Medical product distributor invests in enormous Massachusetts rooftop array

Medline hosted an event yesterday to celebrate the completion of the rooftop solar installation atop its state-of-the-art distribution facility in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. Uxbridge officials, Medline employees and solar developer PowerFlex were on hand to comment and commemorate this remarkable achievement. This 6.7 MWDC system is the fifth roof system Medline has completed at a facility in the US

The 820,000 square foot Uxbridge facility distributes medical products and devices across the healthcare continuum – including hospitals, nursing homes, surgery centers, hospices and physician offices. The company has invested more than $34 million in renewable energy since 2016, with solar projects in several states, including California and Florida, and headquartered in Northfield, Illinois. Medline has continued to expand existing systems with other ongoing projects in various locations.

“We started our renewable energy portfolio in 2009, when our first geothermal facility was built, and it has continued to grow since then,” said Francesca Olivier, VP of environmental, social and governance at Medline. “We are committed to helping healthcare operate more sustainably – going beyond our responsibility to provide sustainable products and services to our customers and looking at our own operations to determine how best to conserve the Earth’s natural resources .”

To complete this project, Medline partnered with its long-term solar developer, PowerFlex, a national provider of intelligent on-site renewable energy solutions.

“As a designated green community within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the City of Uxbridge is pleased to see one of our business partners, Medline, also contribute to this effort by executing the rooftop solar project,” said City Manager Steven. Sette. “It is our hope that other companies in Town will follow Medline’s leadership with this project and also work to reduce our environmental footprint going forward.”
