Idemitsu Renewables completes 73-MW California solar project
The Luciana Solar Project, a 73 MW solar project in Tulare County, California, has been commissioned commercially and is expected to generate clean and affordable power equivalent to the needs of more than 20,000 homes in California.
Located in Ducor, California, the project provided jobs to more than 200 workers during construction, mostly from local union halls in the surrounding areas. The Luciana Project also provides continued economic development in the form of fees and tax revenue for Tulare County.
“Given the unprecedented supply chain challenges the industry has faced over the past year, we are proud to have successfully exploited the Luciana project through our partnership with East Bay Clean Energy (EBCE),” said Cary Vandenberg, CEO of Idemitsu Renewables. “By leveraging our financial strength and development expertise, we are helping California meet its aggressive clean energy goals, while also making significant investments in Tulare County.”
The renewable energy generated by the Luciana project will be sold through a 15-year power purchase agreement with EBCE, which serves Alameda County and neighboring cities.
“The Luciana project brings more low-cost renewable energy into EBCE’s portfolio, and it is another major step forward on EBCE’s path to 100% clean energy for all our customers by 2030,” said Nick Chaset, CEO of EBCE.
