Growatt unveils second-generation off-grid string inverter with low-voltage disconnect protection

On small islands or in developing and rural areas where there is limited or even no grid access, off-grid solar energy has become an increasingly popular energy solution. Growatt has launched its second generation off-grid inverter to serve this market.

“Our R&D team has brought advanced technologies into this next-generation product, making it one of the most powerful off-grid inverters on the market,” said Lisa Zhang, Growatt’s marketing director. “Combined with Growatt’s wide range of lithium batteries and monitoring solutions, the SPF 3000T HVM-G2 inverter gives customers access to smart, reliable and sustainable clean energy.”

The SPF 3000T HVM-G2 inverter consists of a built-in MPPT charge controller, AC charger and inverter with low-frequency transformer, enabling peak power of three times the rated power to support motor loads or inductive loads. Thanks to the optimized product design and improvements in both software and hardware, the inverter has a longer life and comes with a five-year product warranty as standard. Growatt’s SPF 3000T HVM-G2 inverter also allows power input from multiple sources, such as a generator, solar, battery, and the grid. The owner can use electrical power from the utility grid and the PV system together to power household loads.

The inverter can operate with or without batteries and is compatible with regular lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries, including Growatt’s lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. In addition, it is designed with low voltage battery protection function. When the battery voltage drops, it will first disconnect non-critical loads from the system to extend the backup time for critical loads.

The SPF 3000T HVM-G2 inverter has a high efficiency of up to 95% and a much lower energy loss with only 9W power consumption in energy-saving mode, which is 70% less than products from other brands. The inverter also has a bypass function that allows the user to bypass the normal operation of the inverter and use power from the grid. With high solar input voltage up to 250V, it makes installation much easier and also lowers BoS cost. The inverter can be connected in parallel for up to six units for single-phase or three-phase systems to extend the power up to 18 kW.
