CARROLLTON — Greene County has received a $191,000 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture to replace the courthouse’s heating-ventilation-air-conditioning system.

Funding comes from a special disaster set-aside that stems from a 2019 disaster declaration. Affected counties were eligible to apply and were able to receive amounts in excess of the typical $50,000 maximum.

U.S. Representative Rodney Davis, whose office matched provincial and federal officials, announced the funding on Thursday.

“This grant will allow the county to replace the existing HVAC system in the courthouse, making it more comfortable and safe for county employees and citizens,” Davis said.

Greene County Board Vice-Chairman Earlene Castleberry said the grant will save local taxpayers and accomplish much-needed HVAC work in the courthouse.
