Generac storage systems can now participate in energy arbitrage situations

Generac Power Systems announced that its line of home standby, commercial and industrial generators, and PWRcell solar and battery storage systems will be manufactured and offered as “Smart Grid Ready,” enabling customers to more quickly and seamlessly sell power back to the grid and offset energy costs. . “Thanks to this integration, Generac customers – residential, commercial, industrial and solar – are now able to make a significant contribution to grid reliability, resilience and sustainability,” said Aaron Jagdfeld, president and chief executive officer of Generac.

The new platform enables Generac’s products to provide more than just emergency power. Now they can also participate in demand management and time-of-use (TOU) arbitration.

Current customers of PWRcell and home generators will also gain access to Generac’s Concerto platform via a firmware update. The update provides existing users with the same distributed power capabilities that come standard on new products.

Enbala Concerto by Generac real-time energy balance platform provides a highly flexible approach to creating manageable and dispatchable energy resources from flexible loads, energy storage and renewables. The platform gives energy retailers and utilities the flexibility to operate in real time and better manage the increasing complexity of increasingly variable energy assets.
