Florim USA recognized for sustainability

Florim VSClarksville, Tennessee – Bill Lee, the Governor of Tennessee, and David Salyers, the Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), recently announced the winners of the 2022 Governor’s Environmental Stewardship Awards (GESA). The GESAs are awarded annually in recognition of outstanding achievements by individuals, local governments, businesses, organizations, educational institutions and agencies for successful environmental projects and conservation efforts. Florim USA was one of only nine companies statewide to receive an award. The category awarded was for Sustainable Performance.

Florim USA was recognized for ongoing sustainability efforts, such as using internally generated production scrap, using various post-industrial wastes responsibly and using post-consumer scrap glass as a new raw material. According to the company, one of the many figures that made an impact was nearly 15 million pounds of post-consumer glass used to make Florim USA’s tiles since 2019 with 5.6 million pounds in 2021.

“The core principles of Florim USA are product innovation, quality, design and environmental consideration,” said Don Haynes, environmental and sustainability manager. “We feel it is our duty and responsibility to be aware of our impact on the environment, both now and in the future. It is a privilege and an honor to be recognized and receive this prestigious award from the Governor and TDEC.”

The winners were formally recognized at an awards ceremony for their achievements and positive impact on the state’s natural resources and communities.
