Dover Library summer programs to begin

The Dover Public Library, 525 N. Walnut St., recently announced that its summer programs will begin June 1.

The theme for this year is ‘Superheroes, super readers’. Children receive a reading tracker with tickets and can choose a superhero eye mask and wristband upon registration. Those who complete the tracker get to choose a book to keep, put a summer reading board in their yard, and get more tickets for chances of winning prizes.

Prizes include lighted scooters, ME Readers, smart kids watches, Marvel games, a Batman tent, superhero capes packs, star projection night lights and clock combos, and various activity book packs, sticker books, and games packs.

Summer events include a visit to Spider-Man from 10 a.m. to June 5, an obstacle course at 11 a.m. on June 10, Marvel vs. DC trivia at 4:00 pm on June 15, story time with Luna the library dog ​​at 10:30 am on June 23, an Infinity Stones scavenger hunt from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm June 26, a superhero craft and take at 11:00 am June 29, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pizza party at 4:00 pm July 16, a meet and greet with local superheroes at 10:30 am July 21, and a comic book writing class with Doug Laubacher at 11 am July 28.

Programs are free, but space can be limited.

Summer programming is powered by the Dover Exchange Club, Directions Credit Union, Henry Heating, Cooling and Plumbing, Alban Title, Peterman Plumbing and Heating, and Dover Chemical. Grinders Above and Beyond, The Emporium, Park Street Pizza, and Miller’s Creamery donated gift cards. Gioninos Pizza provided personalized pizza cards for each reader. First Federal Bank provided goody bags and giveaways, and Buehler’s Fresh Foods donated Frisbees.
