Crossville launches Stone Fiction collection

stone fictionCrossville, Tennessee—Crossville, Inc. said it has launched the Stone Fiction porcelain tile collection, an innovative series featuring the popular look of crosscut travertine interpreted convincingly in durable porcelain tiles.

“It’s not surprising that natural travertine is a highly desirable look for a wide variety of design applications,” said Lindsey Waldrep, vice president of marketing at Crossville. “However, its high maintenance requirements often make it disregarded when it comes time for specification. We created Stone Fiction to give designers the travertine style they want and the elegant effortless performance end users need.”

According to the company, the beauty of travertine in design has been sought after from ancient times to modern times, and the material features prominently in many iconic, historically significant structures such as the Colosseum in Rome that still stands today.

“The combination of Stone Fiction’s stunning travertine look and powerful porcelain performance makes it the answer so many designers have been looking for,” said Waldrep.

Stone Fiction captures the distinctive look of travertine with soft, swirling graphics and a mild, lavish neutral color palette, according to Crossville. While the overall effect reflects the look of the real stone, the company said the tiles are easy to clean and extremely durable.

“While travertine is a much-loved natural stone, its porosity and irregularity can make its maintenance and long-term performance very challenging,” Waldrep said. “Stone Fiction, on the other hand, is ideal for living spaces as well as for the most demanding commercial installations – indoors or out.”

Stone Fiction’s versatile color options include travertine ivory, beige, silver and coffee. These shades are offered in both an unpolished interior finish and an outdoor option that the company says is suitable for walkways and pool edges. Although the texture of the tiles feels smooth, the unpolished finish offers the necessary slip resistance, according to the company.

The collection’s concise field tile dimensions are 12 x 24 and 24 x 24 complemented by a 2 x 2 mosaic and the finishing package includes bullnose and covebase to provide a wide range of application options for commercial and residential projects, the company said.

Stone Fiction field tiles are made in the USA and Green Square certified to meet sustainability standards. According to the company, the entire collection is suitable for commercial or residential projects, recommending options for both interior walls and floors.
