Bay View Flooring launches installation program

bay viewTraverse City, Mich.—Northwest Education (North Ed) Services Career Tech, in partnership with Bay View Flooring & Design Center, has launched a new carpet installation journey as part of its construction worker apprenticeship program.

Tim Hyland, owner of Bay View floors, has been a guest speaker in local building trade classes for over 10 years, encouraging students to consider carpeting a career. With the help of North Ed’s construction instructor Tom Senabaugh and his staff, students can now participate in formal apprenticeship training in the field.

“I always tell students what a great professional floor covering installation is,” Hyland said. “You can work indoors all year round and have your own business in less than five years. The workforce in our industry is aging and there is a lot of growth potential for young workers.”

According to North Ed, as part of the program, students earn school credits by working in the field alongside installation crews. Upon completion of the program, graduates become official employees of the Bay View Flooring team.
