AFA launches FloorTek Open Scholarship Fund
Dalton—In an effort to inspire and support students with an interest in the flooring industry, AFA has established the FloorTek Open Scholarship Fund. One student will receive a scholarship funded by this year’s FloorTek Open golf tournament, which will be held on September 13, the day before the show’s official start. Students are invited to walk the floor of the expo to view the products and industrial innovations on display.
Those wishing to apply for the scholarship award can create an original essay highlighting the product they found most innovative and how it could benefit the future of carpeting. Essays can be submitted via the form on the group Future connections webpage. The AFA Board of Directors will review all entries and select a recipient for the prize. A winner will be announced during the AFA annual meeting in October.
Future connections at the Expo
For those interested in attending, Future Connections is a networking event in conjunction with the FloorTek Expo. AFA partners with universities including Dalton State College/Wright School of Business, Shorter College, Chattanooga State and Georgia NorthWestern to provide the future of the flooring industry with this unique networking opportunity where students can submit resumes for immediate and future industry opportunities , and industry players can scout talent from the area’s best and brightest students, the group said.
AFA invites companies looking for quality candidates for open positions to come out and participate by setting up a free table during Future Connections. The companies can talk to students, accept applications and see what the next generation brings to the industry.
All area students participating in the Future Connections portion of the expo are invited to apply for a FloorTek Open scholarship. The group said it believes in the future of floors, and these students are an essential piece of the puzzle.
