AffiliationA solar developer based in Connecticut has started the construction of his sixth solar project under the Shared Clean Energy Facility (SCEF) program of the State in 2025. These projects are more than 30 MW solar energy.
The SCEF program, under the supervision of the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA), is designed to expand access to solar energy, especially for households with low to moderate income (LMI). Participating residents can subscribe to part of the electricity generated by a SCEF project and credits received on their electricity accounts.
“Verogie strives to ensure that the benefits of renewable energy in all communities are not felt only those with access to solar sun on the site,” said William Herchel, CEO of Verogy. “The SCEF program makes it possible for more Connecticut consumers than ever to participate in and to take advantage of the solar economy.”
Verogy estimates that the SCEF portfolio 2025 will create around 100 direct and indirect jobs in the entire state, including building jobs that pay the prevailing wages. To be eligible for Inflation reduction Act Incentives, Verogy works together with First Solar to deliver American solar modules for the project.

After completion of these six SCEF projects, Verogy expects enough clean energy to be supplied to provide more than 3,600 average houses with electricity every year. In addition, these projects will generate an estimated $ 975,000 in annual savings for LMI households and other utility customers in the coming 20 years.
